My name is Amy Clapton and I am 30 years old. I am married to Nick, 33. I have three children, Toby who is 9 and Tabitha who is 4 and baby Poppy. We live on Ashby fields in Daventry.

I love being a mum and wife, enjoy life and have ALOT of energy!

My adventures with children started at 15 when I did work experience at a nursery. The children trust you and accept you immediately which is a humbling experience. I was very shy but this seemed to work to my advantage as the children would come to me and take me under their wing!

When I was 19 I went to work at a summer camp in America (Camp America) this is where I learnt responsibility. We role played, sang and trained in our individual areas. Mine were archery, Frisbee and crafts. I also did the weekly news letter. We went on the most fantastic mud hikes and told stories around the camp fire. I worked as part of a team but individually I was responsible for a cabin in the middle of the woods for 24 girls and taught classes of 40!

After this I worked as a live in nanny for 3 children. This helped me to learn the very real side of being a part of a childs life and being a major influence in it.

Finally I have been working as a nanny/ babysitter/ child minder for the past 10 years. I love the freedom and flexibility. One day we its playdough, the next building dens in the garden! Everything can be a game and you can teach a child so much from even just a simple daily routine.

I believe my self to be a positive person. I see the good in everything and everyone. Therefore I dont see looking after children a task, its just something I really enjoy doing.

I have spent some years at college studying under different themes. I have done a BTEC National Diploma in Engineering, Maths, English and Science courses. I have completed a course in Counseling skills, ceramics and sculpture courses , the child minding ICP course and common induction standards, safeguarding and 3 first aid courses and a level 3 in childcare.

My future plans are to carry on studying childcare as far as I can and to eventually open my own nursery that can offer a unique style of learning all incased in a hugely positive environment.

All the children I have met have encouraged me to see through childrens eyes which in return makes the world feel like my playground.

I love my job!
